Recording Yourself: Practical Tips for an Effective Session.

Practical Tips When Recording Yourself

Here are some tips to remember when you want to record yourself:

1. Make sure your lighting is good.

When you want to record yourself, you want to make sure that your background is dark. If you have bright lights behind you, those will show up in your recordings.

2. Turn off motion blur.

Motion blur makes your face appear blurry. To avoid this, turn off motion blur in your camera settings.

3. Use a tripod.

Using a tripod helps keep your camera steady. Without a tripod, your camera may shake slightly during the recording process.

4. Keep your distance.

Keep your distance from the mirror so that you don’t block light from hitting your face.

5. Record yourself in front of a plain white wall.

Plain white walls reflect light better than colored walls. So, if you want to minimize reflections, choose a plain white wall. Also, try to get close to the wall so that you can see yourself clearly in the reflection.

6. Don’t wear makeup.

Wearing makeup can cause unwanted shadows and reflections. So, remove any makeup before you start recording.

7. Wear clothes that cover your body.

If you want to be comfortable while recording yourself, wear loose-fitting clothing.

8. Avoid wearing glasses.

Glasses can distort your facial features. So, remove them before you start recording. You can then put them back on after you finish recording.

9. Look straight at the camera.

Looking directly at the camera ensures that you look natural. And, looking away from the camera shows that you aren’t comfortable being recorded.

10. Use a microphone

A microphone is a small device that records sound waves. Microphones come in different sizes, shapes, and prices. They are used for recording music, interviews, and speeches.

Microphones are useful for recording yourself speaking because they pick up sounds well. However, microphones aren’t always ideal for recording yourself speaking.

11. Edit your Recording

Once you’ve recorded yourself speaking, edit your recording. Make sure you remove any background noises and add music where appropriate.

12. Smile!

Smiling naturally looks more attractive than frowning does. So, smile whenever possible.

13. Have fun!

Don’t forget to enjoy yourself while you’re recording yourself. After all, you’re doing something fun!

14. Share what you’ve created.

After you’ve finished recording, upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, or other sites.

15. Upload your video online

Upload your edited video online. There are many websites that allow you to do this easily.
