It’s no secret that smartphones are becoming increasingly popular. But did you know that many phones can double as webcams?
In fact, there are several apps out there that let you turn your smartphone into a webcam.
Here are three ways you can use your smartphone as a webcam:
1. Use Skype

Once you’ve signed up, download the app onto your smartphone. Then, open the app and sign in with your Skype username and password.
Next, select the camera icon on the bottom right corner of the screen. Select the type of video call you’d like to make.
Then, tap the green button to begin chatting.
2. Use Google Hangouts
Google Hangouts is another popular video chat service. To create a free account, visit hangouts.google.com.
Once you’re logged in, click the Camera icon on the top left corner of the page.
Select the type of video call that you’d like to make, then press the green button.
3. Use FaceTime
FaceTime is Apple‘s own video chat service. It works on any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac running OS X 10.6 or later.
To set up an account, visit apple.com/support/facetime.
Tap the blue button next to FaceTime to enable FaceTime calls.
Now, whenever you want to make a video call, simply open the FaceTime app on your iOS device and select the person you’d like to talk to.
The person receiving the call will see a small camera icon appear on their screen. They can accept the call by tapping the icon.
When they do so, they will hear audio from the caller and see video from the caller’s end.
