The Gilas Women will be coming home with the bronze medal after they thrashed Lebanon, 90-68, in Division B of the 2022 FIBA Under-16 Women’s Asian Championship on Thursday night at the Prince Hamza Hall in Amman.
The Gilas Women bounced back nicely after losing to eventual champions Samoa in the semifinals on Wednesday, thanks to the all-around efforts of Gabby Ramos who had 20 points, five boards, and three steals.
Kristan Geyl Yumul also found her shooting touch once again, draining six three-pointers en route to putting up 20 points, six assists, three steals, and two rebounds.
Naomi Panganiban also made a living from the charity stripe, making 10-of-13 to finish with a near double-double of 16 points and nine boards.
The Philippines was just ahead by seven at halftime but took full control of the game in the third, outscoring Lebanon, 23-11, to establish a 19-point lead, 67-48. The lead eventually rose to a high of 32, 81-49, as the Gilas Women cruised to the easy victory.
Angelina Maria Bado led Lebanon with 19 points and five rebounds, while Nour Labban had 12.
