Korean Zombies are the Bomb!
Zombie related movies and series are no longer new to us, that is why most of us did not expect much from it – not until we saw the trailer. When the series was released on Netflix it became a massive hit and remained on top of the most watched series up until now. It became the most talked topic across various social media platforms and the cast received a rapid increase of recognition and following on their socials.
Netflix Zombie Apocalypse
Netflix and everyone behind the camera served a new taste of zombie related film and one of the reasons is because the characters are high school students. Imagining a group of teenage friends trying to survive a zombie apocalypse is enough to make you excited, how much more when they incorporated those ideas in a film. Plus, the graphics, the story and the characters are perfectly combined to produce such an amazing outcome.
But while most of us are swooning over the quality of the series, there are only a few people who managed to point out some things you should know about the famous Korean series: All of Us Are Dead. Well, scroll down if you want to find out.
1. Plot Holes
Here are some of the plot holes you might notice while watching the film.
· One of the scenes showed that a hamster ran towards Nam On-jo’s feet. This scene was cut short but a lot of people concluded that Nam On-jo was bitten, and she became a hambie or she was not bitten because she is already a hambie (because of the first scene when the zombie scratched her hand).
· It is not fully stated why only a few of the students became a hambie. It is not just because of their will to live but maybe there is a deep reason behind that.
· There is a chance that the professor is still alive because right after the zombie attacked him, he was no longer seen on the scene.
· Cheong-san died because of the massive bombing but there is also a possibility that both Cheong-san and Gwi nam is alive. Especially when the film highlighted that On-jo’s name plate is still intact despite the bombing. I mean, why would they highlight it if it is irrelevant?
· Lastly, Nam-ra, the most loved character decided to devote herself haunting zombies after the bombing. Does this mean, there are still lots of them? Will Nam-ra be the new lead?
· Will there be a season 2? Well maybe it is for us to find out soon, but I do really hope there is.
2. Bullying
I love it when the film decides to tackle relevant issues such as bullying. Although it is common during high school, there are still people out there who failed to realize the impact of bullying. They made us realize that there are people who tolerate bullying just like how the professors turned a blind eye on bullying scenes. It also shows that regardless of the victim’s willingness to avoid being a victim, they cannot do it alone because sometimes bullies have connections to alter the truth. The film shows that parents are eager to do anything just to save their child, even though it causes harm to the other party. And that is why anti-bullying must be an act we should all fight for.
3. Decision Making – Life or death choices
The pandemic is still going on, and now, I can clearly imagine the weight of those people in the government taking actions for the benefit of the many. Sometimes, we must risk the minority to save the majority. It was and will never be an easy decision to make, and the film never failed to show us the weight of the government’s responsibility. May we all be reminded to appreciate those government officials who are risking their lives to save people from this pandemic. I know there are only a few of them, but we must at least show them our support.
4. No VIP Treatment – Zombies are not picky
The film did a great job when they decided to highlight that people must be treated equally despite our varying economic status. The politician tried to ask for special treatment. Luckily, the armed forces clearly denied her attempt and made sure to put her in place. It is common nowadays that most politicians love special treatment, but I am glad that there are still people who have the firmness to reject them. Especially if other people needed the attention more than them. May we all have this kind of courage, the courage to stand for what is right and not be intimidated by unjust people.
5. Pride and envy
Pride and envy is a common downfall to people. And worse, it might lead us to do things we are not capable of. Things that are bad and will make us regret afterwards. One of the most heartbreaking scene in the film is when they realized that Gyeong-su died not because of infection but because of pride and envy. Na-yeon intentionally inflicts Gyeong-su because she is afraid to admit her mistake. She also envied him because everyone thinks he is better compared to her. She then regretted it all throughout the film, but it was too late, she never got the chance to say sorry. This shows that if you let envy and pride prevail, you will end up doing things that you will later regret.
6. Friendship
Sometimes people love to relate this film with our current situation. And that is because today, we realized how to value relationships, especially friendship. The film showed how they value each other to the point wherein they are willing to risk their own lives just to save one another. They are determined and they were able to survive because they have faith with their friends. This is a strong message to remind people that not all the time you can do things on your own. If our knees start to tremble and fall, may we learn to ask for other’s assistance because there are people out there who are willing to help you, despite everything you went through.
A Lesson in every movie
There are a lot of lessons we can grasp from every film, and I am glad that All of Us are Dead was able to cater different real life values and tackle relevant social issues. And these are just a few of the important things you should know about the famous Korean series: All of Us are Dead.
