ukay–ukay (/?u?ka?. u?ka?/ OO-ky-oo-ky) is a Philippine type store where secondhand, used, vintage apparels such as clothes, bags, shoes and other accessories are being sold at a low cost pricing, dirt cheap prices affordable to the masses. Ukay or Hukay means “to dig” which is done when sifting over the pile of clothes.
The first Ukay ukay stores are believed to have originated from Baguio. The uniqueness of the ukay items has enticed even the fashionista who in turn has brought a trendy crowd that patronizes this “sulit finds” to make a statement in their daily dress up.
The Ukay can also be called the Pinoy version of the “Flea Market” and in this market there are treasures to be found, some branded and some one of a kind clothes that complete your personal touch.
