TNT drubs Magnolia, moves closer to capturing PBA Philippine Cup crown

The TNT Tropang Giga is now just a win away from capturing the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup title as they routed the Magnolia Hotshots, 106-89, in Game Four of the finals on Wednesday night at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

While super rookie Mikey Williams was his usual brilliant self on his 30th birthday, TNT’s shock troopers led by Ryan Reyes helped set the tone in the first half that led to the dominant victory that gave them a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Williams continued his shooting spree from beyond the arc, draining six triples en route to finishing with 26 points and seven assists. However, it was the veteran Reyes’ 10 points in the second quarter that helped push TNT to a 57-39 halftime lead.

Magnolia never threatened in the second half as TNT pushed their lead to a high of 25, 68-43, before cruising to the victory. TNT will get a chance to finish off Magnolia and claim the All-Filipino title in Game Five on Friday.

Jayson Castro and Dave Marcelo also came off the bench and scored in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively. Roger Pogoy, Poy Erram and Brian Heruela each had nine markers, typifying TNT’s balanced offensive assault.

Calvin Abueva, who was adjudged the Best Player of the Conference, led Magnolia with 28 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
