Shiga Lakestars rally from 22-point deficit to beat SanEn in B.League

Kiefer Ravena gave the Shiga Lakestars a spark as they rallied from a 22-point deficit to defeat his younger brother, Thirdy Ravena, and his SanEn NeoPhoenix, 93-83, in the B.League on Saturday afternoon at the Ukaruchan Arena.

Kiefer, who came off the bench, had 11 points, eight assists, three rebounds and three steals, and was a veteran presence down the stretch when the Lakestars found their bearings after a lackluster showing early on that saw them trail by 22, 37-59.

However, the older Ravena sparked a huge 21-0 run that turned what was a 71-84 deficit into a formidable 82-74 lead with just 3:49 left in the match.

Ovie Soko shone for Shiga as he had a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards. He also had 11 points in the Lakestars’ 30-point explosion in the fourth period. Sean O’Mara added 17 points, nine boards, and three assists for Shiga.

Thirdy had 11 points, six boards, two steals and an assist.

The younger Ravena, though, will not wait long to get another shot at his older sibling as the two teams meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
