Rogado leads Mtrans Buracai De Laiya past Muntinlupa in Filbasket

Cebuano shooting guard Mon Rogado had 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Mtrans Buracai De Laiya – Batangas City Tanduay got the best of the Muntinlupa Defenders, 90-77, in the Filbasket Tournament on Sunday at the Subic Bay Gymnasium.

The win evened up Mtrans win-loss record at 3-3 to put them in fifth place in the 11-team tournament.

Jeff Viernes also had 16 points and added four rebounds and four assists while Adi Santos added 13 markers, six boards and two assists. Andrian Celada chipped in 12 while Jayson Grimaldo contributed 10 markers and six rebounds.

In other matches, the Nueva Ecija Besfren nipped the Medical Depot in overtime, 79-76, to improve their record to 4-3. Mark Cruz led the way for Nueva Ecija with 14 points and eight rebounds while Renz Palma filled the stat-sheet up with 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Mario Bonleon Jr. and John Valin also came off the bench and gave the Besfren a lift with 12 points apiece.

The loss spoiled the incredible effort of Medical Depot’s Simon Camacho who tallied monster numbers of 15 points, 11 rebounds, eight blocks, three assists and two steals. Medical Depot dropped to 3-3 for the tournament.

And lastly, the Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors dropped the FSD-Makati Army, 84-64, to move to 3-3. Big man Justin Arana had a huge double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds for Pasig, which also got 15 points from Jeric Teng.
