The NLEX Road Warriors grabbed their second straight win with a hard-earned 120-115 victory over the hardluck NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2021 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Import KJ McDaniels and Calvin Oftana took charge in the extra session as they combined to score 16 points in overtime and help the Road Warriors move to 2-0 (win-loss).

McDaniels finished with 40 points on an efficient 13-of-21 shooting clip. He added 15 rebounds, six assists, two steals and three blocked shots. Kevin Alas added 21 points, including three free-throws with just 1.2 seconds left in regulation that led NLEX to force overtime after losing a sizable 17-point lead.

Mike Miranda and Oftana finished with 13 and 10 markers, respectively.

NorthPort, on the other hand, suffered another close loss and dropped to 0-2 in the tournament.

Big man Greg Slaughter had 22 points to lead the way for the Batang Pier while Robert Bolick added 18. Import Cameron Forte had a massive double-double performance of 17 points and 23 rebounds. Jamie Malonzo also chipped in 14 markers.
