The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers had a winning debut in the Premier Volleyball League 2022 Open Conference as they trounced the Black Mamba-Army, 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, on Wednesday at the Paco Arena and Sports Center.

Iris Tolenada masterfully orchestrated the Cargo Movers’ offense, piling up 27 excellent sets while Dawn Macandili finished with 19 digs and eight receptions.

The win gave F2 Logistics the early lead in Pool A, which also has the likes of the reigning champions Chery Tiggo, Choco Mucho, and Cignal.

The Black Mamba-Army hung tough in the fourth set as they equalized the game at 17-all before Aby Maraño and Ara Galang scored back-to-back hits to put F2 Logistics in front, 19-17. A block by Baron on Jeanette Villareal pushed their advantage to three points.

However, Black Mamba-Army’s Joannne Bunag and Ging Balse-Pabayo scored a couple of points to pull their team to within one before another block by Bunag and a hit by Dy gave F2 Logistics a 23-20 advantage. A quick hit by Baron put the Cargo Movers at match point before Dy ended the game with another strike.

“Of course, we haven’t played against Army so you know Army is very tight on the defense and then marami silang player na mga bago na naka-contribute especially sa atake, so we just held on,” said F2 assistant coach Benson Bocboc, who filled in for head coach Ramil De Jesus who was still in La Salle’s bubble.

“It’s our first game so naggagamay pa tayo e, so everyone is building connection pa with the team,” he added.

Black Mamba-Army got 18 points from Royse Tubino.
