Basilan BRT snaps losing streak with upset win over Kapatagan in VisMin Cup

The Basilan BRT Peace Riders finally ended their long six-game losing streak after they edged the Kapatagan Buffalos, 65-63, in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge on Tuesday night at the Pagadian City Gymnasium.

Trailing by 15 points after Darwin Lunor’s layup, the Buffalos went on a 14-0 run to slice the gap to just a point, 61-62 with 1:05 remaining in the game.

However, Jorem Morada ended that drought with an and-one with 43.8 ticks left to extend Basilan’s lead to four, 65-61. Richard Kwong made a layup with 11.6 seconds to go, 63-65, but time was not on the Buffalos’ side as the Peace Riders ran away with the win.

“Very thankful ako kasi matagal na namin hinahangan ito,” said Basilan head coach Ron Jalmanzar. “Noong fourth quarter medyo kinabahan pero naka-survive naman.”
