Axie Infinity: What is It?
Intensely focused on technology, Sky Mavis offers Axie Infinity, a game created by a new studio founded in 2018. Game series like Pokemon and Tamagotchi inspired Axie’s whole story. As an NFT game, Axie Infinity allows its players to earn currency as they breed, raise, battle, and trade the creatures.
The mission of Axie Infinity was to introduce the world to blockchain technology in a fun, educational way. The game’s developers and team members met while playing Crypto kitties, which led to them working on Axie to introduce the magic of Blockchain technology to players.

Using Blockchain as their economical design, Axie rewards those who contribute to the ecosystem instead of your traditional game. You reap the rewards as you contribute more to the Axie Universe.
Is it Easy to Use?
Blockchain technology powers Axie Infinity. The Axie Infinity platform provides a ‘play-to-earn’ structure rather than mining new blocks (solving complex math problems to generate an accepted hash).
Players can earn coins by competing in PVP battles, breeding Axies and selling them on the marketplace, or collecting rare Axies. Breeding Axies requires Smooth Love Potion ($SLP). Almost all cryptocurrencies are volatile, including SLPs. As of this writing, the price is P16.00. Uniswap and Binance allow you to buy $SLP.
Upon earning $AXS token, players will be able to own a piece of the Axie universe since it includes fee-sharing and governance rights. This token can be acquired through playing the game, creating a Ready Player One-like quest where players can earn a piece of the universe. Players should be rewarded for their effort and skill, not just their wins.
What Should I Do First?
Axie Infinity’s official website hosts the game. Nevertheless, you can’t simply download the game and start playing it right away. Since it involves cryptocurrency, it requires accounts and wallets. Here’s how you do it:
1. Load some ETH into a digital wallet like MetaMask. ETH can be acquired from Coinbase, Binance, or LocalCryptos, depending on your location.
2. Download the Ronin wallet.
3. Use the Ronin bridge to deposit ETH to Ronin.
4. Purchase three Axies on the Axie market.
5. Enter an email address and password to log in to MetaMask
Axie Infinity: Playing And Earning
As if Pokemon and Hearthstone met, Axie Infinity provides both Pokemon-like monsters with turn-based card games. In other words, players can tell their Axie what action to perform during their turn by using cards. Every Axie has four randomized cards, which must be used to play.
You can play any card you want as long as it is within your four energy capacity limits if you have four energy. Unlike other games, Axie Infinity’s battle system lets players attack random targets, often hitting the closest target to the Axie.
“What happens when I lose/win?” might be on your mind.”. Matchmaking Ratings (MMR) are lost when you lose PVP battles, while Smooth Love Potions (SLP) are gained. However, don’t worry, losing won’t lower SLP—a huge relief, right? Depending on your MMR, you will gain SLP for each win. The following table shows the benefit of each phase of MMR in terms of SLP.
- Less than 800 – No SLP gained
- An SLP is awarded for each win in the 800-999 range
- A win of 1000-1099 is worth three SLPs
- A win is worth 7 SLP in 1100-1299
- A win in the 1300-1499 range requires 8 SLP
- A win cost 9 SLP in 1500-1799
- A win of 10 SLPs for 1800-1999
- The average win for 2000-2199 was 11 SLP
- Approximately 12 SLPs per win with 2200+
In the game, SLPs are earned by performing daily quests or playing PVP. It is recommended to level your given Axies to the maximum as fast as possible in PVP matches because that’s where you’re more likely to get SLPs. Getting daily quests will also increase your Axies’ SLPs and EXPs, so a healthy balance must be struck between PVE and PVP.
The prices of Meta Axies are the problem keeping people from investing in them. It was previously mentioned that three axies are needed to start. Currently, one Plant Axie is acting as a tank, a Beast Axie for DPS, and a Fish Axie for debuffing. You can use the ongoing managers to scholars structure if you’re concerned about the cost of this game.
In the old days of NFT, when monsters and breeding were more affordable, Axies fans had hundreds of them. Unfortunately, someone can’t play 20 Axies at once, so they lend them to people who will play them -or in this case, take care of them.
Scholars and Managers fall into this category. People who are lent Axies are called Scholars, and those who have access to Axies are called Managers. The manager earns 40% and the scholar 60%, but this may vary. Since the scholar plays the game, the scholar usually gets more.
The Scholar decides whether or not to sell the cut to the market once the Manager and Scholar have cut. Scholars cannot breed with SLP; they must complete daily quests, fight in PVP situations, and gain SLP.
Approximately 140,000 Axies exist around the world as of the time of this writing. In line with its cuteness, the most expensive Axie ever sold went for 300 ETH, about USD 1.5 million.
People play this game mainly for the chance to earn money. Investments, however, come with risks. To understand what ETH is, you will have to do some studying. Although it is still a game, you should use funds you are willing to lose since you will be investing real money.
