The Magnolia Hotshots prevailed over the Meralco Bolts, 94-80, to take Game 1 of the 2022 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals, on Wednesday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Hotshots had a slow start and trailed by as much as 17, 16-33, in the second period after a layup by Bong Quinto. However, they found their groove in the second half, and eventually outscored the Bolts, 59-37, to come away with the 14-point win.

Magnolia scored 11 straight in the third canto to turn a 41-48 deficit into a 52-48 lead. They did not look back after that as they brought an eight-point lead, 64-56, to the last quarter.
